TELUS International Philippines (TIP) visited FDAI/Agusan del Sur last December 11 – 12, 2018 to monitor the impacts/progress of the undertaking that the organization has funded.
TIP is a contact center that employs more than 14,000 employees in its five (5) offices in Metro Manila and several thousands more in its branches all over the world such as in Canada and India. To demonstrate that it is a socially responsible juridical entity and that it is serious in fulfilling its corporate social responsibility, TIP established the so-called Community Board. The Community Board serves as a grant-giving body that looks for worthy causes and innovative ideas to aid communities with unique needs in the areas of health, environment, and education. In a way, the Community Board puts life to TIP’s commitment that is encapsulated as “WE GIVE WHERE WE LIVE”.
Since it started operations in 2012, the Community Board has donated over $600,000 to help 66 advocacy projects and programs relevant to health, education, arts and culture, technology, and social values formation in the country. The Community Board has supported a wide range of initiatives in these areas.
“We are always looking out for every possible opportunity to expand our reach and help causes that need support. There are many well-meaning and promising initiatives in the country that are challenged with resources. Through the TELUS International Philippines Community Board, we aim to infuse these projects with the necessary resources, so that they may create or amplify their positive social impact,” stated TIP Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Phoebe Carrera.
In Agusan del Sur, the Community Board has provided grant to the Foundation for the Development of Agusanons, Inc. (FDAI); which is intended for the upscaling of implementation of the latter’s project dubbed as Agricultural Sustainability Interventions (FARMASI). Particularly, the grant has been utilized in the upscaling of the organic black rice production of FDAI’s farmer-partners by providing appropriate inputs/materials for the diversification and integration of pilot farms.
To check on the status of program implementation, TIP Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Phoebe Carrera visited program partners in Barangay Buenaswerte, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur; Sitio Pudlosan, Barangay Borbon, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, and Barangay La Fortuna, Veruela, Agusan del Sur.
