On Feb. 9, 2021, Tuesday, the Foundation for the Development of Agusanons, Inc. (FDAI) joins more than 150 nations in celebrating Safer Internet Day “to promote better and safer internet use for everyone,” particularly for children.

Through its two (2) major projects – CyberSafe Schools funded by KNH Germany and Self-Help Approach – Children-Focused Community Development funded by KNH Germany/Philippines; FDAI made arrangement that the activities promoting better and safer internet for children in Agusan del Sur would cover the whole month of February. Activities include Orientation on Cyber Safety, which would be participated in by classroom officers of Grades 6 and 7, together with Supreme Student Government officers of project-partner schools in Agusan del Sur. The orientation would be conducted via Zoom and to ensure the participation of target participants, internet load would be provided by FDAI.

Also in the lineup of activities are Spoken Poetry Contest and Poster Making Contest tackling issues on Cyber Safety. And in order to reach more stakeholders in this important undertaking, FDAI has arranged Radio and TV Guesting.

It could be recalled that the Safer Internet Day initiative first started in various countries in Europe in 2004. On Feb. 5, 2018, President Duterte issued Proclamation No. 417 declaring the second Tuesday of February every year as “Safer Internet Day for Children Philippine”.

This year’s theme is “Bagong Normal, Ligtas na Internet for All”. FDAI conducts various activities in pursuance of the goal of the initiative in partnership with the Department of Education.
