Recognized as a global issue, child sexual abuse and exploitation now takes on a different platform at a very alarming rate. As offline child sexual abuse and exploitation remains to be part of the reality, online abuse or technology and internet-facilitated abuse against children has become a rising concern especially in the Philippines.

It is in the above-explicated context that the Foundation for the Development of Agusanons, Inc. (FDAI) – as member of Break the Silence National Network – took part in the coming-up of a project proposal for Cyber Safe Schools Project.

The Cyber Safe Schools Project follows the WeProtect Global Alliance Model National Response Plan and in particular, follows the recommendation on setting up an education program for the prevention and early detection of online abuse of children.

To kick start the implementation of the Project, Implementing Organizations gather from March 2 – 6, 2020 at The Selah Garden Hotel, Pasay City Philippines. Calendared for discussions are: 1. Project Overview and Leveling Off, 2. Project Financial Management Component and Requirements, 3. Implementation and Reporting Requirements, 4. Organizational Structure and Consortium Standards, 5. Baseline Tool Development, and 6. Monitoring and Evaluation System.

The project, which is to last for four (4) years, is to be implemented in four (4) regions in the Philippines: 1. National Capital Region, with Stairway Foundation, Inc. as both the Proponent and Implementing Organization, 2. CALABARZON, with Self-Help Approach and Rights-Based Environment, Inc. as the Implementing Organization, 3. Western Visayas, with Bakyas Community Development Center, Inc. as the Implementing Organization, and 4. Caraga Region, with FDAI as the Implementing Organization.
