In November 2024, the Foundation for the Development of Agusanons, Inc. (FDAI), through its Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Project (CCAMP), conducted Household Disaster Preparedness Planning initiative across eight ( 8 ) project barangays in four (4) municipalities. The initiative was aimed at empowering project communities, particularly those vulnerable to flooding, by equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary for effective disaster preparation.
The activity brought together members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and households identified as particularly at risk. The program began with an introduction to Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) at the community level, laying the groundwork for a deeper understanding of disaster preparedness.
A key component of the initiative was a session on the “Gabay at Mapa Para sa Listong Pamilyang Pilipino” (Guide and Map for Disaster-Ready Filipino Families). This session focused on enhancing community-based disaster risk reduction efforts, with a particular emphasis on supporting SHGs, 4Ps beneficiaries, and families residing in disaster-prone areas.
Participants were guided through the process of completing the Household Disaster Preparedness Plan form. This hands-on activity allowed families to outline critical information specific to their needs, vulnerabilities, and resources, ensuring that their plans were personalized and actionable.
By actively involving vulnerable households and fostering community collaboration, FDAI’s initiative under CCAMP continues to strengthen resilience and preparedness against climate-related challenges. This effort underscores the organization’s commitment to safeguarding communities and fostering sustainable development amidst an increasingly unpredictable climate.
